PMP® Requirements

To apply for the PMP®, you need to have either:
  • A four-year degree (bachelor’s or the global equivalent) and at least three years of project management experience, with 4,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education.

    OR
  • A secondary diploma (high school or the global equivalent) with at least five years of project management experience, with 7,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education.

How to Apply


Step 1: Sign-up for Project Management Institute (PMI) membership
    • To apply for the PMP®, register Yourself to PMI's on line system to get started

    • PMI Exam Charges For Members = US$ 405
    • TOTAL COST for MEMBER = US$ 534
    • PMI Exam Charges For Non Members = US$ 555

Step 2: Earn 35 Contact Hours of Project Management Education

  •  Getting 35 Contact Hours of Project Management, is a pre-requisite for the PMP® Exam .
  • You Have Various options of Getting On-line or Off Line Training from PMI R.E.P              

Step 3: Apply for PMP Certification Exam with PMI

  • Apply for PMP® Certification online using PMI's On line Certification System.
  • PMI reviews your application and if it is determined to be complete, PMI will send you an email to submit the exam fee.
  • PMI typically takes about 1 week for application approval.
  • Your application approval is valid for one-year from the date you receive the approval email.
  • After you pay for the exam, PMI will send you an email indicating one of the following next steps:
    • Examination scheduling instructions to help you schedule your examination
    • Application has randomly been selected for PMI's audit process
  • If you receive exam scheduling instructions, you can go ahead and schedule your exam with Prometric (Step 5).
  • If your application is selected for an audit, PMI will provide you the follow-up instructions to comply with the audit.
Step 4: Get the right Exam Prep Material and Study

Step 5: Book the Exam with Prometric Testing Center
